Katsokaa, miten ihanan lahjan sain SNY:ltäni! Paketista löytyi Grignascon luonnonvalkoista merinosilkkilankaa ja sävyyn sopien valkoista suklaata, jonka jo herkuttelin teen kanssa. Lanka tosiaankin lämmittää mieltä ja tulee lämmittämään hartioita, kuten SNY:ni toivoi. Odotan Amazonilta kirjatilaustani, johon juuri sopivasti kuuluvat Lace Style ja Victorian Lace Today. Niistä löytyy varmasti kaunis malli toteutettavaksi tällä langalla. Kiitos, SNY, olet aarre!

Look how wonderful gift I got from my secret pal! There was a hank of off-white Grignasco Merinosilk yarn and, matching to the yarn, white chocolate, which I already enjoyed with tee. The yarn will absolutely turn in to a shoulder warming shawl, just like my pal hoped. I am waiting for my order of Lace Style and Victorian Lace Today books from Amazon. I’m sure I’ll find a beautiful pattern in one of them. Thank you pal, you are such a dear!

Loma on kivaa :) (I like vacation)

Vieläkin täytyy hehkuttaa, miten ihanaa lomalla on olla. Tosin pitkästä aikaa (siis muutamaan vuoteen) minulla on sellainen olo, että jaksan loman jälkeen mennä takaisin töihin. Maanantaiaamuna olen ihan varmasti kyllä eri mieltä.

Wabisabi on nyt noin puolessa välissä. Langan liukuvärjäyksestä näyttäisi muodostuvan ihan kiva pitkittäisraidoitus. Sen verran hidasta tuon tekeminen on, että taitaa mennä sen parissa vielä reilu viikko. Silmukoita on ohjeesta poiketen ja langan paksuuden vuoksi 440 kerroksella.

Runkopatja ja petari sitten tulivat tänään - onneksi. Vanha runkopatja lähti kuljetusfirman mukana kierrätykseen, mutta petari jäi pehmentämään vuodesohvalla yöpyvien vieraiden unta. Täytyy löytää sille hyvä säilytyspaikka. Ensi yönä saa ottaa unoset ihanan pehmeässä uudessa sängyssäni :)

I still have to say that it is wonderful to be on vacation. However, for the very long time (meaning a few year) I feel I’m ready to go back to work. I’m sure I will not think so on Monday morning anymore.

I have knit about a half of the Wabisabi and the stripes look nice. It is quite slow to knit, so it will probably be finished after next week. Because of the yarn, I have 440 stitches to work with, which is a lot more than in the pattern.

My new bed arrived today! The courier took the old one away too, so I will not have to worry about taking it to recycling centre. I will have a good night sleep in my lovely soft bed :)

Talvi tuli! (It's winter now!)

Viimein saatiin tänne eteläänkin talvi! Kukapa olisi uskonut, että kun pitää talviloman maaliskuun viimeisellä viikolla, saa nauttia talven parhaista hiihtokeleistä. Kävin tänään Oittaalla hiihtämässä kunnon lenkin, otin kunnon löylyt ulkoilukeskuksen saunassa ja lopuksi herkuttelin uunituoreella korvapuustilla ja mukillisella teetä. Ihana lomapäivä!

Tänään täytyy kuitenkin vielä siivota, koska huomenna saan uuden ihanan runkopatjan ja petarin. Tai toivottavasti saan. Tänään piti tulla tekstari, jossa piti olla kahden tunnin tarkkuudella huominen toimitusaika, vaan sellaista ei tullut. Aamulla täytyy siis soittaa myyjäliikkeeseen ja varmistaa, että sänky on tosiaan tulossa. Yhtään ylimääräistä yötä en tuolla vanhalla hirvityksellä halua nukkua.

Olen muuten aloittanut Wabisabi –huivin. Laitan siitä huomenna tänne kuvan.

At last we have winter in southern Finland! Who would have thought, that the best possibilities for cross country skiing would be on the last week of March, at the same time with my winter vacation. I went skiing to Oittaa, sat a good time in sauna and then ate a just baked cinnamon roll with a cup of tea. What a wonderful vacation day!

However, I will have to clean up today, because I will get my new bed tomorrow. At least I hope I will. I should have received a SMS about the delivery time today, but I never got it. Well, I will call to the seller in the morning for getting confirmation of the delivery. I do not want to sleep in the old awful bed any longer than I really have to.

I have started to knit the Wabisabi scarf. I will insert a picture of it here tomorrow.

Revontuli-huivi (Revontuli shawl)

Jippi-jee! Sain Revontuli-huivin valmiiksi tänä aamuna - tässä siitä tuoreet otokset. Olen tosi tyytyväinen lopputulokseen.

I finished the Revontuli shawl this morning - these are just taken pictures of it. I'm very happy with the shawl.

Geena, Vihreä Vyyhti ja muuta (Geena, Vihreä Vyyhti and other things)

Tässä uusin kuva kultaiseta Geenani. Käytiin muutama päivä sitten läheisellä kalliolla napsimassa kunnon kuvasarja, kun äiti tarvitsi hyvää kuvaa Geenasta.

Harmaasta Tukholman tuomisesta on tulossa tosiaan se Revontulihuivi. Ensimmäinen kerä on jo käytetty ja jälkimmäinen menossa. Lanka liukuu hieman tottumaani huonommin neulottaessa ja välillä on vermistettava, etteivät silmukat jää liian löysiksi. Käsiin jää vähän rasvainen tuntu, mikä ei tosin haittaa mitään. Jospa tuo valmistuisi pääsiäisen pyhinä.

The gray yarn from Stockholm is turning into a Revontuli shawl. One skein has been used and the second one is currently being knitted. The yarn does not slide as well as I have used to and I have to watch that to stitches will not get too loose. The yarn leaves a slightly greasy feeling on hands, but it does not matter. Maybe I will finish this shawl during Easter holidays.

Tosi nopsaa palvelua oli Vihreässä Vyyhdissä. Perjantaina siellä kävin, eikä tahtomaani tuotetta ollut kuin muualla varastossa, niin tiistaina jo oli paketti töistä tullessa ovella odottamassa. Ihana postinjakaja oli sen siihen jättänyt, niin ei tarvinnut postista lähteä hakemaan. Kuvan tästäkin lisään vasta SNY -kauden jälkeen - ihan varmuuden vuoksi.

The service in Vihreä Vyyhti was very fast. I visited the shop on Friday, but they did not have the product I wanted. On Tuesday, when I got home from work, there was a parcel waiting for me on my door. Postman had been very nice to leave it there, so I did not have to go to the post office. I will post the picture of what was in the parcel after the secret pal season is over - just in case.

Suloinen lankapuoti (Lovely yarn shop)

Kävin tänään tutustumassa Helsingissä Hakaniemen kauppahallissa olevaan Vihreään vyyhtiin. Olin löytänyt liikkeen nettisivuilta pari tuotetta, jotka minun oli ihan pakko saada ja hankkia myös SNY:lle. Kerron sitten SNY –kauden jälkeen, mistä on kysymys, jotten paljastu liian aikaisin. Palvelu oli tosi ystävällistä ja koska yhtä hakemaani tuotetta ei juuri ollut saatavilla, se luvattiin lähettää minulle postissa.

Samalla reissulla tuli käytyä Akateemisessa kirjakaupassa katsomassa matkaopasta kesän tulevalle Kranjska Goran matkalle. Enemmänhän sieltä kaupasta mukaan tarttui, kuin mitä lähdin hakemaan. Sen Slovenian matkaoppaan lisäksi mukaan tarttui Juliaanisten Alppien vaellusopas ja yhdistetty Slovenian ja Ljubljanan kartta. Retkikohteet jo bongasin kartalta ja oppaista, mutta tarkemmin pitää vielä opuksiin perehtyä Hauskasti sattui, kun myyjä kertoi käyneensä Slovenian Alpeilla ja kehui sekä kohdetta, maata että paikallisia ihmisiä.

Muuten tämä loppuviikko on mennyt tylsästi, kun flunssa iski tiistai-iltana. Nuhaa nyt vain lähinnä on, mutta väsyttää myös. Ei ole juuri tullut neulottuakaan. Kalevan kierroksen hiihto-osuus on huomenna, ja jää ikävä kyllä väliin. Pidän peukkuja GSK:n joukkueelle ja toivotan heille liukkaita latuja ja hyviä pitoja.

Today I went to see a yarns shop in Hakaniemi Helsinki called Vihreä vyyhti. I had previously found a couple of products on their web site, which I had to get for both my secret pal and me. I’ll tell more about the products after the secret pal season. The service was very kind and the lady even promised to mail me a product that was not available today.

During the same visit to Helsinki I stopped at a large book store too to find a travel guide for my trip to Kranjska Gora in the summer. Well, I bought more than I had planned. In addition to that Slovenia guide I bought a hiking guide for Julian Alps and a combined map of Slovenia and Ljubljana. The excursion destinations have been located, but more studying must still be done. It was nice to hear that the saleswoman had been in the same place. She had liked the country, destination and local people very much.

Otherwise the last days have been quite boring, since I got the cold on Tuesday. It’s mostly runny nose, but also makes me tired. I have knitted hardly at all. The cross country skiing part of Kalevan kierros is tomorrow, but I will not take part in that. I keep my fingers crossed for the GSK team!

Synttärijuttuja (Birthday stuff)

Siskoni sai pehmoisen synttäripaketin. Hän ihastui muutama vuosi sitten ostamaani Novitan Kid Mohair -lankaan, josta itse en sittenkään pitänyt. Väri näytti kaupassa kauniilta tummanruskealta, mutta luonnonvalossa se onkin punaruskeaa, vihvahtaa jopa hieman violettiin. Hyvä kun tykkäsi siitä, niin sain edes osan keristä käyttöön.

Synttärilahjoista ensimmäinen oli siis Tikrun Omppu-huivi. Hmmm, ruskea omena...

My sister got a soft birthday present. She liked the Novita Kid Mohair yarn, which I bought a few years ago and which I did not like after all. The colour looked beautiful dark brown in the store, but in the nature light there is some red or even dark violet in the colour. It's good that she liked it, because now even some of the skeins have been used.

The model is Omppu scarf by Tikru. Omppu is a nickname for apple in Finnish, wich makes to colour, hmmm, interesting...




Toinen osa paketista oli sormikaspari Drops:n Alpacasta. Englanninkielinen ohje löytyy Drops:n nettisivuilta. Lanka jäi yli hänelle joululahjaksi tekemästäni Sagittaria -huivista, niin että nyt hänellä on vähän niin kuin setin tapainen.

The second part of the present were these gloves made of Drops Alpaca and the pattern is from Drops web page. The yarn is extra yarn of the Sagittaria shawl, which I made for her for Christmas. Now she has a kind of a set.

Ja lopuksi jo pitempään tekeillä ollut pari Luontopolku -sukkia. Malli on oma ja lanka on Novitan Nalle.

And finaly a pair of Luontopolku socks. The model is my own and the yarn is Novita Nalle.

Tukholman tuomisia (From Stockholm)

Tässäpä tuomisia loppuviikon Tukholmanreissulta: neljä vyyhtiä käsin liukuvärjättyä Ullcentrumin kaksisäikeisä villalankaa Svensk hemslöjd:stä. Ihania lankoja siellä kaupassa oli, mutta hintavia ne kyllä olivat.

Harmaasta tulee revontulihuivi, marjapuuroon sävyttyvä punainen hakee vielä mallia. Tällä hetkellä ykkösenä on Wabi-sabi, kaksi muutta mahdollisuutta ovat Autere-huivi ja Palette.

This is what I found from Stockholm at the end of last week: four hanks of hand-dyed and space-dyed 2-ply wool yarn of Ullcentrum from Svensk hemslöjd. There were wonderful yarns in that shop, but they were also quite expencive.

The gray ones will turn into a Revontuli shawl. The red one is not quite sure of it's future plans. At the moment the favourite is Wabi-sabi, but Autere and Palette are also possible.

Lahjan tekoa (Making gift)

Jokunen aika on nyt mennyt tehdessä muutamaosaista lahjaa. Kolme osaa on jo valmiina, mutta vielä puuttuu vähän. Viimeyönä meni puolille öin yhtä osaa viimeistellessä ja aamulla nukutti oikein makoisasti. Kohtapuoliin on aika antaa se saajalleen ja sitten voin laittaa kuvia tännekin.

Etelä-Suomessakin on nyt talvi. Vastahan viikko sitten julistin kovasti kevään tuloa. Ihanaa, kun tuli valkoista ainetta maahan ja se on pysynytkin muutaman päivän. Joskos pääsisin viikonloppuna käymään hiihtoladulla ottamassa tuntumaa suksiin, niin ei tarvitsisi lähteä ihan kylmiltään kolmea kymppiä hiihtelemään.

Huomenna onkin pitkästä aikaa luvassa juhlintaa, kun suunnataan kaveriporukalla Viikkarille. Tukholmasta täytyisi yrittää löytää joku ihana lankakauppa, jos vaikka saisin langat Revontulihuivia varten. Näen mielessäni harmaita revontulia. Se ihana Shetland Trianglekin on kyllä vielä tekemättä ja langat sitä varten on jo kotona. No, voihan ne molemmatkin tehdä.

Some time has passed knitting a gift, which contains several parts. Three parts are completed, but there are still some things to do. Last night the midnight passed when finalizing one part. It would have been very easy not to get up in the morning. Soon it is time to give the gift for its receiver and then I can insert some pictures here.

We finally got winter to southern Finland, too. Only a week ago I said that the spring has arrived. However, it is wonderful to have that white stuff on the ground, where it has stayed for some days now. Maybe I can go cross-country skiing next weekend. Would be good thinking of the 30 km I will be skiing a week later.

There will be a party tomorrow, when I am going for cruising with my friends. I will try to find some lovely yarn shop in Stockholm, because I have been seeing a Revontuli shawl in my eyes for quite some time. I can tell you it is a gray one. The pretty Shetland Triangle shawl should be knitted too. I even have yarns for it at home. I guess there is no harm having yarn for both of them.
