Lisää suunnitelmia (More plans)

Olin taas maanantain ja tiistain työn vuoksi reissussa, enkä tiistai-iltana vielä kunnolla purkanut matkalaukkua. Kun keskiviikkoaamuna aloin pakata työvaatteita pyörälaukkuihin, Geena ilmaisi varsin selkeästi mielipiteensä matkustelusta. Se kävi kerälle avoimeen matkalaukkuun. Tuo ei ole mikään valtava kapsäkki, vaan pieni lentolaukku, jonka saa ottaa matkustamoon.

Lauantaina onkin jo Porvoon koiranäyttely, jonne Geena menee veteraaniluokkaan. Saa nähdä, mitä tuomari on hauvasta mieltä. Toivottavasti tänään alkanut flunssa, jonka takia lähdin tänään kesken päivän töistä kotiin, helpottaa siihen mennessä. Mukavaa mökkeilyäkin olisi luvassa viikonloppuna.

On Monday and Tuesday I traveled again because of my work. On Tuesday evening I did not yet completely unpack my luggage. When I was packing my work clothes into my bicycle bags on Wednesday morning, Geena gave her clear opinion about traveling. She went to sleep in my open luggage. That is not a huge bag but a small one, the kind that is allowed to take with to the cabin.

On Saturday Geena will take part in the veteran class of the dog show in Porvoo. We’ll see, what the judge will say about my doggy. Hopefully the cold that hit me today, and of which I came earlier home from work, will give up before that. During the weekend we would also have a possibility to spend some nice time at the summer cottage.



Reissun aikana oli tullut Interweave Knits:n uusi numero. Siitä päätyi suunnitelmalistalle tämä punainen New Pea Coat -takki, joka on kaunista ja hieman erikoista neulosta. Myös sininen Estes Vest –olisi kiva toteuttaa.

During my trip the new issue of Interweave Knits had come with the mail. This red New Pea Coat has ended up to my “to do” list. The pattern is beautiful and quite different of the usual ones. I would also like to knit the blue Estes Vest.

Neulomista, pyöräilyä ja italiaa (Knitting, cycling and Italian)

Tässäpä tulee kuva viime viikolla Tampereella valmistuneesta neuletakista! Kuvassa se näyttää hassulta, kun joustinneule tekee niin kuin on tarkoituskin eli vetää vähän reunaa kasaan. Valitettavasti tuo ei oikein istu minulle, vaikka yritinkin sovitella silmukkamääriä. Toivottavasti löytyy joku, jolle se on sopiva, ettei jää kaappiin lojumaan.

Tiistaina näin myös aivan ihanan koiranpennun, Maisan, Geenan kasvattajan perheen uusimman jäsenen. Maisa on belgianpaimenkoira malinois ja ikää tuolloin oli kokonaiset 12 viikkoa.

Tampereelta pääsin perjantaina työkaverin kyydillä Poriin, jossa järjestettiin lauantaina Kalevan kierroksen pyöräily. Meille puolikkaan kiertäjille matkaa kertyi 63 km, joista ensimmäinen puolikas meni mukavassa myötätuulessa ja jälkimmäinen puolestaan vähemmän mukavassa vastaisessa. Lämpöä oli noin 18 astetta ja taivas oli puoli pilvinen. Aika lailla mainio sää pyöräillä! Matkaan minulla meni aikaa 2 tuntia ja vajaat 23 minuuttia, mikä oli paremmin kuin odotin.

Olen suunnitellut lähteväni patikkareissulle Italiaan ensi kesänä. Kyllä, kesän reissusta jäi alppikuume. Ilmoittauduin työväenopiston italiankurssille, jos vaikka vuoden kuluttua jo vähän italialla pärjäisinkin.

Here is a picture of the cardigan that I finished at Tampere last week. It looks a bit funny in the picture because of the ribbing. Unfortunately it does not fit me well enough, even though I tried to recalculate the stitches. I hope to find someone who it fits, so that I do not have to hide it in a closet.

On Tuesday I met a great puppy, Maisa, who is the newest family member of Geena’s breeder. Maisa is Belgian Shepherd Dog Malinois and was 12 weeks old when we met.

On Friday my colleague gave me a ride from Tampere to Pori, where we took part in the cycling part of Kalevan kierros. The route was 63 kilometers long, fist half with nice leading wind and last half with not so nice headwind. The temperature was about 18 degrees of Celsius and the sky was half cloudy. Very good weather for cycling! It took 2 hours and little less than 23 minutes for me to get to the goal, which was better than I expected.

My plan is to travel to Italy next summer for hiking. Yes, I have not recovered of the alpine fever which I cached last month. I signed up for an Italian course. Maybe then I will manage with some Italian in a year.

Viimeistelyä vailla (Just a little more)

Lomalla aloittamani jakku on melkein valmis. Enää puuttuu reunaa kiertävä joustinneule, joka tulee kokonaan alpakasta.

The cardigan I started to knit during vacation is nearly done. Only thing missing is the rib edge, which will be knit of alpaca.

Mökkeilyä (At summer cottage)

Vähän myöhässä kulkee tämä bloggaus, mutta ehkä se sallitaan näin lomalla. Olin viime viikolla muutaman päivän rentoutumassa mökillä Geenan, vanhempien ja heidän koiriensa Sopun ja Ilonan kanssa. Saatiin iso siika, made ja noin 12 muikkua, mikä on meidän järveltä tosi hyvä saalis kolmessa päivässä. Lisäksi löydettiin oikein mukava pussillinen kanttarelleja. Mustikkatilanne sen sijaan näytti kehnolta.

Koirien kanssa kävelyillä ollessa syötiin pienen mökkitien varrelta metsämansikoita. Geenakin tykkäsi niistä, samoin kuin niistä vähäisistä mustikoista, joita löytyi.

I keep updating my blog late, but maybe it is allowed during holiday. At the end of last week I was relaxing at the summer cottage with Geena, my parents and their dogs Sopu and Ilona. We got a big whitefish, a burbot and 12 vendaces. We also found quite a nice bag of mushrooms. However, there will not be too much of blueberries.

When we were walking with the dogs, we ate some wild strawberries which were growing by a narrow road. Geena liked them too, as well as the small amount of blueberries that we found.

Mökillä ehdin vähän neuloakin. Snyltä saamastani Drops Alpacasta on tulossa Drops Safranin kanssa saman firman ohjeella neuletakki. Etu- ja takakappaleet ovat valmiit ja ensimmäinen hiha on puolessa välissä. Työ etenee tosi nopeasti! Näin kaksinkertaisella langalla neuloessa on vaan välillä tarkastettava, että molemmat langat on neulottu ja ettei joku silmukka ole tullut jaettu kahdeksi silmukaksi. Muutaman kerran on pitänyt purkaa ja puolikkaita silmukoita on nosteltu tavallista useammin.

At the summer cottage I had some time to knit too. I’m knitting a cardigan of Drops Alpaca, which I got from my secret pal, together with Drops Safran. The pattern is from the same company. Front and back pieces are finished and the first sleeve half done. This is very fast to knit! I just have to be careful when knitting with two yarns. I easily knit only half stitch of knit one stitch twice. I have had to undo the knitting a few times and to pick up the half knitted stitches more often than usual.

Pirpanalle vielä peukkuja viikonlopuksi!!! Kety on henkisesti valmistautunut ja valmis hoitamaan hommansa täydellä sydämellä.

Pussukka ja toppeja (Little bag and tops)

Onpas mennyt pitkään siitä, kun viimeksi olen blogia päivittänyt. Tänään tein aurinkolaseille pussukan, kun niiden oma kotelo meni rikki, eikä optikkoliikkeessä ollut sopivaa. Malli on omasta päästä, roosa lanka on Novitan Isoveikkaa ja luonnonvalkoinen Novitan Ainoa. Enpä taida uutta koteloa hankkiakaan, kun tuo tuntuu riittävän pätevältä.

Well, it has been a long time since I have updated my blog. Today I crocheted a small bag for my sunglasses, because their own box got broken, and I could not find a new one in the opticians shop. The model is my own, rose yarn is Novita Isoveli and off white yarn is Novita Aino. Maybe I will not by a new box after all, because this bag seems to do the job just fine.

Roosasta topista puuttuu vieläkin vyötärön korjaus. Niin kuin kuvasta näkyy, sitä tarvitaan kipeästi.

I have not yet fixed the waist of the rose colored top. As you can see, it really needs to be done.

Valkoisen Lace-edged corset –topin kappaleet ovat melkein valmiita. Mittausvirheiden vuoksi niitä on pitänyt neuloa osittain uudelleen, mutta nyt näyttää hyvältä. Tämän topin viimeistelyssä onkin vielä monta vaihetta edessä, kun on pitsihelmaa, nappilistaa, nyöriä ja muuta.

The pieces of the Lace-edged corset are almost knit. Because of the mistakes in measuring I have had to knit them partly twice, but now they look fine. There are many of steps when finishing this top, when there are the lace-edge, buttonhole band, I-cord drawstring and so on.

Koiranhoitoa ja auto-ongelmia (Dogsitting and carproblems)

Kesätoppi valmistui juuri! Se on ollut jo muutaman päivän päättelyitä ja höyryttämistä vaille valmis, mutta nyt nekin on tehty. Siitä tuli kohtalaisen hyvä. Kaula-aukon madallus ja topin pidennys onnistuivat, mutta vyötärön sisäänotosta tuli vähän liian jyrkkä. Asia varmaan korjaantuisi, jos purkaisi vähän sivusaumoja ja ottaisi pidemmältä matkalta ommellen sisään. Siinä voisikin olla sopivaa tekemistä illan futismatsin ajaksi!

Olen myös aloittanut ja päässyt hyvään vauhtiin toisen topin kanssa. Siis sen, jota varten alun perin vaaleanpunaiset Tennesseet ostin. Kävin viime viikolla ostamassa luonnonvalkoista Sandnes Garn:n Mandarin Petit –lankaa. Ihanaa neulottavaa! Minulla on aina ollut sellainen käsitys puuvillalangasta, että sitä on hankala neuloa, mutta Mandarin on muuttanut sen käsityksen. Lisäksi se on miellyttävän pehmeää. Topista on nyt molemmat takakappaleet valmiina ja etukappaleet aloitan, kunhan saan kotona olevista kirjoista varmistettua lyhenteen merkityksen. En jaksa nyt alkaa googlata sitä.

Jep jep, en tosiaan taaskaan ole kotona. Olen ollut viikon vanhempieni koiria Sopua ja Ilonaa hoitamassa ja samalla talonvahtina. Täällä koirulaisten yhteiselo sujuu paremmin kuin minun kotona. Työmatkatkin ovat sujuneet yhtä poikkeusta hyvin välillä autolla ja välillä bussilla, koska matkaa on normaalin kymmenen kilometrin sijaan pari kymmentä kilometriä suoraa tietä tai vaihdotonta bussireittiä. Oma koti on vielä matkanvarrella, joten siellä oli toisella yrittämällä helppo poiketa. Kamera on siellä omassa kodissa, joten kuvia tulee vasta ensi viikolla.

Niistä yhdestä poikkeuksesta ja toisesta yrittämästä… Menin tiistaina töihin vanhempien autolla, mikä piti helpottaa ja nopeuttaa kotimatkaa huomattavasti, koska oli elintärkeää asiaa lankakauppaan ja tärkeää asiaa omaan kotiin. Kävin ensin lankakaupassa, josta ostin aiemmin mainitsemaani Mandarin Petit:iä.

Omaan kotiin ajaessani ihmettelin, miksi ilmastoinnista tulee lämmintä ilmaa. No mitäs minä siinä muuta kuin pistin viileämpää säätöä kehiin. Ei auttanut, tuli vain kuumempaa ilmaa. Sitten syttyi jokin merkkivalo, jota autoista ymmärtämättömänä säikähdin. Tajusin kuitenkin katsoa lämpömittaria, joka oli heilahtanut punaiselle. Onneksi siinä vaiheessa matkaa parkkipaikalle oli enää pari sataa metriä. Ohjekirja vahvisti jo arvaamani asian, että jäähdytinneste on vähissä. Mokoma kirja vaan käski laittamaan jäähdytinnesteen ja veden seosta oikeassa suhteessa eli fifti-fifti. Mietin, että eikö sinne laitetakaan pelkkää vettä, niin kuin yhteen ikivanhaan autoon laitettiin, eihän minulla mitään sellaisia nesteitä ole!

Uskaltauduin yrittämään puolentoista kilometrin päähän huoltoasemalle, jonne onneksi pääsin ihan turvallisesti. Ohjekirjassa nimittäin sanottiin, että sitten vasta, jos valo alkaa vilkkua, pitää pysähtyä heti. Huoltoasemalta sainkin apua, oikein ystävällistä sellaista. Oikeanlainen jäähdytinneste löytyi ja henkilökunnan asiantuntemus rauhoitti. Ensin käytiin katsomassa säiliön tilanne, sitten piti istua odottamaan koneiston jäähtymistä ja sitten sai laittaa lisää nestettä ja vettä. Niitä meni sittenkin väärässä suhteessa, mutta se ei kuulemma ole vaarallista – pääasia, että jäähdyttimessä on nestettä. Auto kulkee nyt hyvin ja on kohtapuoliin menossa muutenkin määräaikaishuoltoon, joten asiat taitavat olla kaikin puolin kunnossa.

Suurin apu oli kuitenkin se, että Heidi-ystävä mene päästämään koirat ulos – kiitos Heidi. Oballe myös kiitokset teknisestä puhelinkonsultaatiosta. Onneksi on olemassa teidänlaisia ystäviä!

I have just finished my summer top! It turned to be quite good. Making a lower neck line longer front and back are very fine, but the decreases for the waist are made too rapidly. The waist line would probably get better, if I re-shape it by sewing the seams. That’s a good thing for me to do while watching tonight’s soccer game!

I have also begun to knit another top. The one that I got those pink Tennessee yarns for. This time I bought off-white Mandarin Petit yarn of Sandnes Garn for it. It is great to knit! I have always thought that cotton yarn is difficult to knit, but Mandarin has changed my thinking. in addition it is very soft. The back pieces are finished and I will start with the front piece as soon as I check one abbreviation in a book at home. I’m not in the mood to google it.

Oh yes, once again I’m not at home. I have been dogsitting my parents dogs Sopu and Ilona and at the same time looking after their house. It is easier to handle the dogs here than at my own home. The ways to work have gone, without one exception, by car or by bus. There is a direct road or a single bus line there. My own home is on the way, so it was easy to pop there on the second try. My camera is there at my own home, so I will post new pictures next week.

About that one exception and second try… I drove to work on Tuesday with my parents car, which was supposed to make my way back home easier and faster, because I really needed to stop at the yarn shop and also needed to stop at my own home. Firs I went to the yarns shop to get that Mandarin Petit which I mentioned before.

When I was driving to my own home I wondered why the air conditioner gives warm air and of course I turned it colder. Well, it did not help, I only got warmer air. Then a light indicated some problem, but I did not know what. Somehow I looked at the thermometer, which had turner to red. Luckily there was only a couple of hundred meters to our parking space. The manual confirmed my suspicion that there was not enough fluid in the cooler. The book only gave one option, which was to add a combination of cooler fluid and water in a right proportion, which is fifty-fifty. I was wondering why it is not just water, that should be put there, which was the case with one old car. I don’t have that kind of fluid!

I dared to try to drive to the nearest gas station, which is about 1.5 km (about 0.9 miles) from my place, and I gut there just fine. In the manual it said that it a light starts to wink, the car needs to be stopped immediately. The service at the gas station was very kind and I got help. The right kind of cooler fluid was found and the expertise of the personnel calmed me down. First we checked the fluid container, then I had to just sit and wait until the car cools down and finally I could refill the container with the fluid and water. The proportion got incorrect but I learned that it is not dangerous – the main thing is that there is fluid in the cooler. The car runs now smoothly and it is soon time to take it to get it checked, so I guess everything is just fine.

The biggest help for me was that my friend Heidi went to get the dogs out – thank you, Heidi. Thanks also for Oba, who gave me technical help by phone. I am lucky to have friends like you!

Toppimalli valittu (Top pattenr chooced)

Tällaisia kainoja kaunottaria kukkia on pikkuruisella pihallani – jouluruusuja siis. Tämä on se tummempi, jonka lisäksi kukkii vaaleampi vanhan roosan värinen yksilö. Kolmas jouluruusu ei tänä keväänä kuki, mutta näyttää muuten hyvinvoivalta. Jännitin kovasti, miten nämä ihanuudet selviävät talvesta. Onneksi talvi oli leuto, niin aarteeni pärjäsivät vallan mainiosti.

These shy beauties are flowering in my tiny garden – helleborus they are called. This is the darker one, but another one is flowering too, it has lighter, old rose colored flowers. My third one has not made any flowers this year, but otherwise it looks like it is doing very well. I was nervous about the winter and whether or not they would make it. Luckily we had a mild weather all winter, so my treasures had no troubles with it.

Mutta mennäänpä nyt aiheeseen, johon otsikko viittaa. Päätin tehdä Modan numerossa 2 olleen topin, jota olen jo aloitellutkin. Olen laittanut 3,5 mm pyöröpuikkoni sinne kuuluisaan varmaan talteen, joten joudun toistaiseksi neulomaan noilla pitkillä hirvityksillä. En pidä pitkistä puikoista, koska niiden kanssa tarvitsee kauheasti tilaa ja työstä tulee nopeasti painava kannatella. Bussissa niitä ei voi ollenkaan käyttää. Ensimmäistä kertaa neulon ylhäältä aloitettua puseroa.

But now I will tell about the top. I decided to knit the one in Moda 2/2008, which I thought before. I have put by 3.5 mm circular needles in a very safe place, so I have to knit with those terrible long ones. I do not like them, because they require much more space around me and the knit will soon get very heavy. The can not be used in bus at all. This is the first time that I am knitting down from the shoulder.

Toinen toppi (Another top)

Enpä tullut huomioineeksi, että silkki ja puuvilla painavat eri verran. Puuvilla on siis silkkiä kevyempää, ja silkille sopivilla puikoilla puuvillasta tulee ”peltiä”. Joopa joo, toppimalli siis vaihtuu.

Viimeisessä Modassa (2/2008) oli kiva malli numerolla 41. Odotan kuitenkin vielä uutta lehteä, jos siinä olisi joku hyvä vaihtoehto. Tuon lehden piti ilmestyä tänään, mutta ei sitä meidän Prismassa eikä Citymarketissa näkynyt. Jospa se olisi siellä huomenna.

Tuota mallia 41 yrittäisin muokata hieman. Etuosan kaula-aukko saisi tulla mielestäni hieman alemmaksi, toppi olla muutaman sentin pidempi ja vyötäröllä voisi olla vähän muotoa. Noista toimista pidennys on helpoin ja ainoa, jonka olen aikaisemmin tehnyt, mutta toisiakin kannattanee yrittää.

I did not take in consideration, that silk and cotton do not weight as much. So cotton is lighter than silk, which means that when it is knitted with needles that suite for silk, it gets really tight. Oh yes, I need to find a new top pattern.

In last Moda magazine (2/2008) there was a nice pattern number 41. I will still wait for the new issue, if there would be a good option. It was supposed to be published today, but I didn’t see it in the nearest hypermarkets. Well, maybe it will be there tomorrow.

If I knit the pattern number 41, I will try to make some changes to it on some parts. I think the neckline could be a little lower, the top could be some centimeters longer and the waist could be shaped. Earlier I have only changed the length, but the other changes are worth to try, too.

Sä kuvaat taas noita... (You only take photos of those...)

Geenalla oli selkeät mielipiteet mallitilkun kuvaamisesta: leikkiminen on kivempaa ja kuvaan pitää päästä mukaan. Ensin se iski silmänsä lankakerään ja alkoi leikkiä kissaa. Käytiin sitten välillä leikkimässä Geenan omalla lelulla, jonka jälkeen se päätti tulla mukaan mallitilkkukuvaan, ja hyvinhän se siihen sopikin, valitsi jopa itse sopivan paikan ja hyvän poseerausasennon. Siis mallitilkku oli tuossa ennen hauvaa. Ja kyllä, kuvaan välillä tekeleitäni sen saman sängyn päällä, jossa Geena ja minä nukumme.

Tuo on siis mehiläishuivin mallitilkku. Siitä tuli kerta yrittämällä sopivan kokoinen. Helmien kiinnittäminenkin sujui hyvin. Nyt vaan odotellaan 11:ttä päivää, jolloin ensimmäinen vihje tulee.

Geena had clear opinions about taking photos: playing is much more fun and she must be in the picture. First she had her eyes on skein and started to play cat. We played a while with her own toy, after which she decided to get in the picture. Well, I find that she is a good detail in it, she even choose a good place and way of posing by herself. The swatch was there before the dog. And yes, I sometimes take pictures of my handiwork on the same bed than both Geena and I sleep in.

So that is the swatch of the bee shawl. I got just the right size on my first attempt. Also attaching the beads went well. Now I’m waiting for the 11th of May, when the first clue will be given.

Tänään hankin langat kesätoppia varten. Minun piti jo viime keväänä tehdä kesäksi pusero tai toppi, mutta silloin en löytänyt sopivaa mallia. Aikaisemmin tänä vuonna tilaamassani ”Lace Style” –kirjassa ihastuin heti tuohon ”Lace-Eedged Corset” –toppiin. Lankojen kanssa kävi niin hyvin, että kotoisat Novitan Tennessee ja Virkkauslanka sopivat hyvin korvaamaan kirjan mallissa käytettyjä ulkomaisia lankoja. En varmaan olisi raaskinutkaan ostaa 100 %:sta silkkilankaa. Kunhan saan salaisuusprojektini valmiiksi, aloitan tuon topin.

Today I got yarn for a summer top. I meant to knit one last summer, but I never found a good pattern. Earlier this year I ordered Lace Style book and found the charming Lace-Edged Corset in it. Another good thing is that I can use familiar Tennessee and Virkkauslanka yarns of Novita instead of the foreign ones recommended in the book. After all, I don’t think I would have bought 100 % silk yarn. As soon as I finish my secret project, I will begin to knit this top.

Valmis! (Done!)

Union Square Market -pusero valmistui maanantaina, työmatkaa edeltävänä iltana, eli juuri ja juuri aikataulussa. Mietin, onko se hieman nafti, mutta työkaverin mielestä onneksi ei. Yläselässä käsiala on jostain syystä ollut heiman tiukempaa kuin muualla. Käytin puseroa jo tiistaina ja se on ihanan lämmin ja pehmoinen eikä kutita, niin kuin lampaan villa tekisi. Väreihin ja nappeihin olen tosi tyytyväinen.

My Union Square Market pullover was finnished on Monday, the evening before my business trip and just within the schedule. I was not quite sure, if it is a little bit small for me, but luckilly my colleague said that it fits just fine. I have made the upper back slighlty tighter than the other parts. I wore the pullover on Tuesday and it is comfortably warm and soft and not at all itchy like lamb wool would be. The colours and buttons are very beautiful.

Napit (Buttons)

Menin tänään katsomaan nappeja Union Square Market -puseroa varten ja kauniit löysinkin Soukan lankakaupasta. Vaikka napit kuvassa näyttävätkin muovisilta, oikeasi ne ovat metallia. Ensimmäinen hiha on valmis ja toinenkin jo melkein kainalossa asti, joten loppusuora häämötää. Valmiiksi pusero on saatava viikonloppuna.

Samalla lankakauppakäynnillä ostin myös ensimmäiset bambuiset Addini. Sukkapuikot ovat kokoa 2 ja 2 ½, ja tulen testaamaan niitä ensiviikon lentomatkoilla sormikkaisiin.

Today I went to look for buttons for the Union Square Marker pullover and pretty ones I found. In the picture they look like they were made of plastic, but they are actually metallic. First sleeve is done and the other one will soon reach armpit. The pullover must be finnishd during weekend.

At the same visit to the yarn shop I bought my first bambu Addis. The double end stiches are European size 2 and 2 ½. I will test them during two flights next week.

Vanhoja neuleita (Previous knits)

Lisäisin sunnuntaina kuvia vanhoista käsitöistäni, mutten ehtinyt kertoa niistä mitään. Yllä on lähikuva isälle muistaakseni vuoden 2005 joululahjaksi tekämästäni villapaidasta. Yritin ottaa hyvän kuvan koko puserosta, mutta tulos oli sen verran kehno, että päädyin tähän ratkaisuun. Ohje löytyi Novitan nettisivuilta ja lankana on seiskaveikka.

On Sunday I inserted pictures of my old hadicrafts, but had no time to tell anything about them. Above is a detail of a sweater that I made for my father for Christmas 2005. I tryed to take a good picture of the whole sweater but ended up with a number of not so good ones. That is why you'll only see this picture. The model is from Novitas internet pages and the yarn is Novita 7-veljestä.

Äiti sai vajaa vuosi sitten synttärilahjaksi haarukkapitsihuivin. Oli hauska kokeilla jotain uudenlaista tapaa tehdä käsitöitä. Malli löytyi Novitan lehdestä ja lankana on vyyhtilanka Soukan TeeTee -myymälästä. Tein itselleni toisen samanlaisen.

My mother got this lace shawl for her birthday almost a year ago. It was nice to try a new way to make handycrafts. The model was in Novita magazine and the yarn in nameless yarn from TeeTee yarns shop in Soukka, Espoo. I made an other one just like this for myself.

Isä sai vuoden 2007 agilityn MM -kisoinhin päälleen puseron Novitan Samos Lollipopista, jonka malli taisi olla edellisen kevään lehdessä.

I made this sweater for my dad for agility world championships 2007. The yarn is Novita Samos Lollipop and, if I remember right, the model was in Novita spirng 2007 magazine.

Uusiksi menee (Re-knitting)

Sain työmatkalla valmiiksi puseron etu- ja takakappaleet - tai siis melkein, koska neuleessa on jotain pielessä. Erivärisen reunan pitäisi kääntyä kauniisti kaksinkertaiseksi nurjalle puolelle reilun sentin matkalta, mutta minun työni käyttäytyy ihan toisin. Reuna taittuu itsestään niin tukevasti oikealle puolelle, ettei sitä ole toivoakaan saada edes höyryttämällä kuriin.

Mietin asiaan ratkaisua, ja yksi idea tulikin. Viimeisen päävärillä neulotun kerroksen voisikin neuloa hieman paksummilla puikoilla. Taitos kiinnitetään nurjalla juuri noihin nurjan puolen silmukoiden "nyppyihin". Ajattelin, että ylimääräinen löysyys katoaisi kiinnitykseen, ja silloin väärään suuntaan taittuminen ehkä estyisi. Täytyypi kokeilla.

I nearly finnished the front and back of my pullover on during my business trip, but there is something wrong with it. The contrast colour edge should make a nice turn to the wrong side - mine does not do that. The edge turns to the right side by it self and there is no way to put it under control.

One solution came in to my mind. I could knit the last main colour row with a bit larger needles. The contrast coloured edge is joined to that row on the wrong side. I think that the extra loosnes could dissapear when the stiches are joined together and maybe then the edge would not turn to the right side. I must try it.

Etenee... (Progressing...)

Siskon sukissa on havaittavissa hyvin pientä etenemistä. Sen verran on huonosti erottuvassa kuviossa silmukoiden pyörittämistä, että yhdensuuntaisen työmatkan aikana ehdin neuloa noin 2,5 kerrosta, siis 5 kerrosta päivässä. Ehkäpä saan sukkaa nyt vähän paremmin tehtyä, kun Union Square Market -puseroa varten on hankittava ohuemmat puikot, ennen kuin voin sitä jatkaa.

I am proceeding with my sisters socks very slowly. As I wrote before, I only knit them in the bus on my way to work. There are quite many twisted stiches, and therefor I can only knit about 2,5 rounds a on one way trip. I need to get new needles before I can porceed with the Union Square Market Pullover, so maybe the sock get a few more rounds during next couple of days.

Toinen keskeneräinen työni on edennyt sentään paremmin. Etu- ja takakappaleet ovat lähes valmiit. Viikonloppuna saan varmasti uudet puikot, joten lisää etenemistä on luvassa lähiaikoina. Saapa nähdä, onko tuo valmis kolmen viikon kuluttua...

Toisessa kuvassa erottuu v-kaulus hieman paremmin. Langanpätkät ovat silmukka- ja kerrosmerkkejä.

My other unfinnished knitting has proceeded better. Front and back are naerly done. I am quite confident that I will get the new needles on the weekend, so there will be more progression in the near future. Will see, if it will be compleatly ready in three weeks...

On the other picture you can see the v-neck a bit better. The lighter extra yarns are my stich

markers.

Union Square Market Pullover

Sain siskoltani joululahjaksi The Best of Interweave Knits -kirjan, joka on täyttä ihania malleja. Ensimmäisenä tehtäväksi työksi valitsin Union Square Market -puseron, joka olisi tarkoitus saada valmiiksi helmikuun lopulla olevaa työmatkaa varten. Tältä kirjan malli näyttää. Saa nähdä, millainen on omastani tulee.

My sister gave me The Best of Interweave knits book for Christmas present. It is full of beautiful designs. I choose to knit first the Union Square Market Pullover, which I hope to have ready for a business trip at the end of February. Above is the picture in the book. We'll
see, how my own will look like.

Puseron alaosa on melkein valmis. Lankavalintani on Garnstudion Alpaca. Pääväri on sinivioletti ja tehosteväri vaaleanvioletti. Lanka on aivan ihanaa neuloa.

The heam is nearly finnished. The used yarn is Garnstudio Alpaca. Main colour is blueish violet and the contrast colour is light violoet. This yarn is wonderful to knit.

Vuosi 2006

Nyt ehdin kuvaamaan ja latamaan joitain vuoden 2006 töistäni.

Now I had time to take pictures and download some of my knits from year 2006.

Siskoni vanha cavalier king charlesin spanieli oli lähes kalju. Olimme jo parina edellisenä talvena puhuneet, että Bettan tarvitsisi pipon, koska sen päätä varmasti paleli pakkasilla. Koska korvakarvatkin olivat harvaa sorttia ja koiraparkaa kävi sääliksi, otin viimein puikot ja langan kauniisiin (?) käsiini ja aloin neuloa.

Ihan omasta päästä muokkasin muodon tuohon luovaan ilmestykseen. Värit ja raidoitus ovat samat kuin siskoni useampaa vuotta aikaisemmin ensimmäiselle cavalierillemme Pipalle neulomassa villapaidassa. Novitan Nallea voin suositella käytettäväksi koirien neuleissa, se kun kestää hyvin pesua.

Bettan ei koskaan kertonut mielipidettään pipostaan. Mallina toimivan Sopu-sheltin happamasta ilmeestä sitä vastoin näkee sen kannan selvästi.

My sisters old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Bettan had almost no hair at all in her head. We had been talking, that she would need her own hat, because her head must have been cold on the freezing weathers. Because she had very little hair on her ears, too, I felt sorry for her and decided to take some action.

The shape of the hat is my own creation, but the colours and stripes are the same as in a dogs sweater, that my sister made for our first Cavalier Pippa many years ago. I can recommend this yarn, Novita Nalle, for dogs cloaths, because it can be machine washed.

Bettan never told har oppinion about the hat. However, you can see of the sour face of the model, Shetland Sheepdog Sopu, that she does not like it at all!

Novitan lehdestä talvi 2005 valitsin tehtäväksi tämän lämpimän puseron, jonka lankana on Novitan pehmoinen Aino.

Of Novita magazines winter 2005 issue I chooced to knit this warm sweater. The soft yarn is Novitas Aino.

Tämä lehmuksenvihreä kietaisuneule löytyi Novitan kevään 2006 lehdestä. Olen työhön muuten tyytyväinen, mutta se saisi olla hieman pidempi. Lankana on jälleen Novita Wool.

The model for this light green cardigan is from Novitas spring 2006 issue. Otherwise I'm happy with the result, but i could have made it a bit longer. The yarn is Novita Wool.

Tässä paljon käyttämäni luumunpunainen pitsineuletakki, joka on tehty Novitan Woolista. Malli on Novitan syksyn 2006 lehdestä.

This one I have been waering a lot. It is made of Novita Wool and the model was in Novitas autumn 2006 magazine.

Kaapissani seisoi vanha ja liian löysäksi neulottu villapaita. Väri oli kuitenkin niin kauniin ruskea, joten purin vanhan puseron langaksi ja tein uuden. Malli on Novitan syksyn 2005 lehdestä.

I had an old sweater, which I had made with too large needles. The colour was so pretty brown, so i decided to reuse the yarn. Novita published this model in its magazine of autumn 2005.

Vuosi 2007

Tässä näytille vuonna 2007 tehtyjä käsitöitä. Niihin kuuluu yllättävän paljon virkkaustöitä, vaikka pidän neulomisesta huomattavasti enemmän. Pienemmänpuoleiset virkkauksetkin näköjään onnistuvat.

Below are my knit and crochet works from year 2007. There are surprisingly many thigs I chroceted, even though I prefer much more knitting.

Blogikoira Geena esittelee kesällä valmistuneita virkattuja ja huovutettuja tossuja. Vihreät ovat siskolleni Anulle ja kirjavat jämälangoista itselleni. Lanka molemmissa Novitan Huopanen, malli Novitan kevät 2007 -lehdestä. Kuvassa mukana myös Geenalle tärkeä äitini tekemä luutyyny.

The blog dog Geena is showing the crocheted and felted slippers made on summer. The green ones are for my sister Anu and the other ones I kept for my self. The yarn is Novita Huopanen and the patterns is from Novita magazine spring issue of 2007. In the picture there is also bone shaped pillow, witch was made by my mother for Geena.

Nämä tossut menivät joululahjaksi ystävilleni. Tein tossut myös vanhemmilleni loppukesän mökkireissuille, yritän saada niistäkin kuvat tänne.

These slippers were a Christmas present for my frends. I made slippers also for my parents, I will try to get a picture of those, too.

Siskoni taisteli upeasti tiensä shetlanninlammaskoiransa Pirren kanssa edustamaan Suomea agilityn MM-kisoihin Norjan Hamariin. Mukaan lähti lämmittämään Novitan Samoksesta neulottu takki. Malli on Novitan kevään 2007 -lehdestä.

My sister and her shetland sheepdog Pirre represented Finland in agility world championchips in Hamar Norway. She got this sweater jacket for that event. The model is from Novita magazines spring 2007 issue, yarn is Novitas Samos.

Itselleni tein samanlaisen. Vetoketjun väri erottaa muuten samanlaiset takit toisitaan. Vetoketjujen ompelu oli vähintäänkin haastavaa, vaikka ompelukone helpotti työtä kummasti. Periaatteessa en haluaisi koskea neuleisiin ompelukoneella, mutta näistä ei olisi tullut mitään ilman sitä.

Isä sai myös matkalle mukaan neuleen. Otan siitäkin joku kerta vanhempien luona käydessäni kuvan.

I made an other one for my self. We recognise them of the zippers color. It was quite challenging to sew the zippers, but the sewing machine made the work easier. I have a pinciple to avoid using the sewing machine with my knittings, but I could not have done these without it.

Also my father got a sweater. I will take a picture of it once I wisit my parents.

This is cardigan that I made for my friends baby boy. The model was in Novita magazines autumn 2007 issue. The yarns is Sandnes Smart.

Siskoni toivoi joululahjaksi pitsineulehuivia - malli ja väri saivat tulla yllätyksinä. Ahkeran nettisurffailun jälkeen päädyin todella kauniiseen Sagittaria -huiviin, jonka on suunnitellut Vilma (http://vilman.blogspot.com/2007/01/sagittaria-huivi.html). Langaksi valitsin vaalean harmahtavanvihreän Garnstudion Alpacan.

My sister wished a lace shawl for Christmas. The patterns is designed by Vilma (http://vilman.blogspot.com/2007/03/sagittaria-shawl.html), the yarn is Garnstudio Alpaca and the colour is light grayish green.

Tässä mummon saamat lapaset. Lankana on 7-veljestä.

These mittens are for my grand mother and they are made of Novita 7-veljestä.

Ystävälleni 7-veljeksestä tekemäni lapaset.

The same yarn was used for these mittens made for a friend.

Lisäksi virkkasin pääsiäistipuja ja Kartio -kaatimelle "hameen" ja tein kaksi haarukkapitsihuivia.

In addition, I crocheted some Easter decoration and made two lace shawls.
