Ainot, Reinot, aamutossut tai villasukat (Slippers or woolen socks)

Sain pari viikkoa sitten kutsun juhlimaan ystävieni avioitumista. Juhlissa saa löysätä solmiota kohta saapumisen jälkeen ja jalkineiksi on pyydetty valitsemaan Ainot, Reinot, aamutossut tai villasukat. Neulojahan on tuollaisesta toiveesta vain ja ainoastaan mielissään. Tuloillaan on kaksi paria En Pointe –tossuja, toiset siskolle ja toiset itselle. Molemmista tulee mustat, koristelulla sitten erotamme omamme. Kuva puuttuu, mutta koetan saada sellaisen näytille viikonloppuna.

Tänään piipahdin ohimennen poikkeuksellisesti Sellon Prismassa, ja koska satuin näkemään lankaosaston lähes suoraan liukuhihnan yläpäässä, pakkohan sinne oli poiketa, ihan vain tarkistamaan, kuinka paljon se poikkeaa Ison Omenan Prisman lankaosastosta. Siis onhan se nyt ehdottoman tärkeää tietää, mitä väriä Seiskaveikka ja muita Novitan lankoja missäkin hypermarketissa on ja onko siellä mahdollisesti eri kausilankoja kuin Ompussa. Ja olihan siellä! Löysin ihanaa Novitan Polaris –lankaa, jossa on 60 % akryyliä, 25 % alpakkaa ja 15 % mohairia. Lankaa on 150 metriä sadassa grammassa. 400 grammaa roosaa Polarista muutti lankakoriini odottamaan muodonmuutosta kaulaliinaksi ja pipoksi.

A couple of weeks ago I got an invitation to my friends’ wedding celebration. The occasion is not as formal as usual. It is requested that the shoes will be changed to slippers or woolen socks. (Ainot and Reinot are certain kinds of slippers.) Well, a knitter is only pleased about that kind of request. I’m knitting two pairs of En Pointe slippers, a pair for my sister and another pair for myself. Both of them will be black but the decorations will make them look different. The picture is missing but I will try to attach one in the weekend.

Today I exceptionally popped in to hypermarket Prisma in the shopping center Sello. When I saw their yarn department almost right in front of me, I just had to go and see how much it differs from the yarn department of Prisma in Iso Omena shopping center. Indeed it is important to know which color of the most common yarns in Finland each hypermarket has and if they have different seasonal yarns than Iso Omena. And there was! I found lovely Novita Polaris yarn, which is 60 % acrylic, 25 % alpaca and 15 % mohair. There is 150 meters of yarn in 100 grams. 400 grams of rose Polaris moved to my yarn box to wait for their transformation to scarf and hat.

Hyvin etenee (Good progress)

Mekko on edistynyt mukavasti vyötärölle asti ja joustinneule on muutaman kerroksen kulutta neulottu. Tuo lanka on ihan mukavaa neuloa, tosin tekokuitu kyllä tuntuu hieman. Luultavasti se ei kuitenkaan päällä haittaa.

The dress has proceeded well to the waist and the ribbing is knit after a few rounds. The yarn is quite nice to knit, even that the synthetic fibers can be felt. Probably it will not matter when the dress is worn.

Sukkia olen neulonut vain bussissa ja niiden muotokin alkaa jo hahmottua, kun melkein puolet ensimmäisestä sukasta on neulottu. Minusta on hauska seurata, miten langan värit vaihtuvat ja raidat muodostuvat.

I have been knitting the socks in the bus and now that almost a half of the first one is knit, the shape can be seen. It is fun to see how the yarn colors change ant the stripes find their places.

Mekkoa ja sukkaa (Dress and socs)

Viikonloppuna tuli aika ryhtyä toteuttamaan suunnitelmia, ja niinpä menin Helsingin Menitaan etsimään sopivaa mekkolankaa. Myyjän asiantuntevalla avustuksella löysin ”sisäkäyttöön sopivan eli ei kovin villaisen ja siten liian kuuman, mutta ei toisaalta liian tekokuituisenkaan” langan. Teen siis mekkoa Sandnes Garn:n Fiestasta, jossa on 55 % puuvillaa ja 45 % akryylia. Myyjä vielä laski minulle, minkä verran lankaa tarvitaan. Kuusi kerää löytyi heiltä ja loput kahdeksan hain kotimatkalla Soukan Menita Outlet:sta.

Soukan myymälässä tehdään remonttia. Muistaakseni jouluun mennessä heidän pitäisi avata uutta tilaa alakerrasta ja saada siten nykyiseen myymälään lisää tilaa langoille. Valikoimankin kuulemma on laajentumassa. Tuosta uutisesta tulin entistäkin paremmalle tuulelle ja mielessäni taputin pieniä karvaisia käsiäni.

During the weekend it came time to turn plans to action, and so I headed to Menita yarn shop in Helsinki to find yarn for a dress. With kind help I found a yarn, which is “suitable for in-doors, does not contain too much wool and there for is not too warm, but does not too much synthetic fibers either”. My yarn is Sandnes Garn Fiesta, which has 55 % cotton and 45 % acrylic. The needed amount of yarn was calculated for me. Six balls I got from that shop and the rest eight I picked up from Menita Outlet in Soukka Espoo on my way home.

The shop in Soukka is being fixed up. If I remember correctly, the job should be done before Christmas. They get new space downstairs and in the currents shop space they will be able to fit more yarn it. The selection should get better, too. That news got me on even better mood and in my mind I clapped my hands.

Keväällä hankkimani vihreänkirjava Garnstudion Fabel on alkanut hakemaan sukan muotoa. Päätin kokeilla mallia, joka neulotaan edestakaisneuleena niin, että sukkaan muodostuu pystyraidat. Sukkapuikot pitää kyllä vaihtaa pyöröksi, ettei tapahdu silmukkavahinkoja.

The mixed green Garnstudio Fabel yarn, which I bought in the spring, has started to get a shape of a sock. I decided to try a pattern, which is knit on garter stitch and the sock will get vertical stripes. I will have to change those double pointed needles to a circular one, before any stitch accidents happen.

Flunssa on tullut kutakuinkin selätetyksi ja kovasti on jo tehnyt mieli lähteä liikkumaan. Viikonloppuna pääsinkin ihan mukavasti rauhallisille kävelyille, mutta kovin reipas liikunta saa vielä odottaa. Torstaina olin lähdössä toiseen harrastukseen pyörällä vähän viimetinkaan ja pienessä kiireessä. Olin pihalla jo ihan reippaassa vauhdissa, koska täällä ”ei koskaan tule ketään vastaan”. Vaan kuinkas ollakaan, autohallin nurkan takaa alamäessä tuli vastaan naapuri koiran kanssa. Siinä jollain tavalla löin polkimeen nilkan, joka oli todella lähellä mennä sijoiltaan. Se muljahti kovemmin kuin koskaan, eikä nilkan ulkosyrjälle astuminen ole mitään verrattuna siihen, miltä tuo tuntui. Vieläkin jalkaa pitää vähän varoa ja tietyt liikkeet tai asennot eivät tunnut hyvältä. Lisäksi ilmeisesti joku ötökkä on ilmeisesti eilen pistänyt yhteen varpaaseen. Sen tyvi on kunnolla turvonnut ja haittaa kävelemistä. No joo, ehkä jo parin päivän päästä pääsen hikoilemaan. Onneksi on käsitöitä!

The cold has given up quite well and I have wanted to get exercising a lot. During the weekend I was able to get on nice calm walks, but brisk sports still have to wait. On Thursday I was heading for another hobby by bike and was in a hurry. I had gained quite a good speed on the yard, where “there never are passersby”. But so it happened this time, behind the garage and on a slope down, there was a neighbor coming towards me with a dog. Somehow I hit my ankle to the pedal and my ankle almost dislocated. Stepping on the outer side of your foot is nothing compared to what it felt like. Still I have to consider the ankle in certain situations and some movements and positions do not feel god. In addition, probably some bug has bitten my toe. Part of it has well swollen and bothers when walking. Well, maybe I will be able to sweat in a couple of days. And there is always something to knit!

Oliko tämä neuleblogi? (Is this a knit blog?)

Onko tämä blogi muuttunut kävelyblogigsi? Ei sentään, urakka oli vaan sen verran iso, että pakkohan siitä oli kertoa.

Äiti sai äitienpäivälahjaksi Nallesta neulotut Bombadil –sukat. Olin päätellyt varret hieman liian tiukkaan, joten korjasin ne heti sunnuntaina. Äiti oli tyytyväinen uusiin sukkiinsa.

Huivimysteeri on alkanut. Aloin neuloa ensimmäistä vihjettä muutaman päivän sen ilmestymisen jälkeen, joten olen hieman jäljessä jo tässä vaiheessa. Toinen vihje ilmestyi eilen, enkä ole vieläkään saanut ensimmäistä valmiiksi. Yritän kiriä tämän viikon aikana. Kesätoppi ei ole juurikaan edennyt edellisestä kuvasta, josko yhtään.

Neulomattomuuteen löytyy kuitenkin hyviä syitä, joista Reitti 2000:n kävely on yksi. Lisäksi meillä oli lauantaina taloyhtiön pihatalkoot, joiden järjestelyissä olin mukana. Itse talkoisiin meni seitsemän tuntia.

Sunnuntainakin oli puuhaa, olin katsomassa Sheltti-show:ta Espoon Puolarmaarissa. Kun siirtolapuutarhan laidalla oltiin, pihoja oli pakko päästä katselemaan tapahtuman jälkeen vähän lähempää. He ovat kerta kaikkiaan ihania!

Is this knit blog turned in to a walking blog? No, it is not, the project was just so big that I had to tell about it.

My mother got Bombadil socks of Novita Nalle yarn for mother’s day. The bind off was a bit too tight, so fixed them already on Sunday. Mother liked her new socks.

The mystery shawl has started. I started to knit the first clue a few days later than it was published, so I am already some days behind the schedule. The second clue came yesterday and I still have not finished the first one. I will try to catch up this week. I have not proceeded with the top too much, if at all.

There are good reasons for not knitting, one of them being the Route 2000. In addition I was one of the three people organizing the community effort of our apartment house on Saturday. We worked seven hours on Saturday.

On Sunday I was watching a Sheltie show in Puolarmaari Espoo. There are very beautiful gardens in Puolarmaari, so we went to see them after the show.

Synttärijuttuja (Birthday stuff)

Siskoni sai pehmoisen synttäripaketin. Hän ihastui muutama vuosi sitten ostamaani Novitan Kid Mohair -lankaan, josta itse en sittenkään pitänyt. Väri näytti kaupassa kauniilta tummanruskealta, mutta luonnonvalossa se onkin punaruskeaa, vihvahtaa jopa hieman violettiin. Hyvä kun tykkäsi siitä, niin sain edes osan keristä käyttöön.

Synttärilahjoista ensimmäinen oli siis Tikrun Omppu-huivi. Hmmm, ruskea omena...

My sister got a soft birthday present. She liked the Novita Kid Mohair yarn, which I bought a few years ago and which I did not like after all. The colour looked beautiful dark brown in the store, but in the nature light there is some red or even dark violet in the colour. It's good that she liked it, because now even some of the skeins have been used.

The model is Omppu scarf by Tikru. Omppu is a nickname for apple in Finnish, wich makes to colour, hmmm, interesting...




Toinen osa paketista oli sormikaspari Drops:n Alpacasta. Englanninkielinen ohje löytyy Drops:n nettisivuilta. Lanka jäi yli hänelle joululahjaksi tekemästäni Sagittaria -huivista, niin että nyt hänellä on vähän niin kuin setin tapainen.

The second part of the present were these gloves made of Drops Alpaca and the pattern is from Drops web page. The yarn is extra yarn of the Sagittaria shawl, which I made for her for Christmas. Now she has a kind of a set.

Ja lopuksi jo pitempään tekeillä ollut pari Luontopolku -sukkia. Malli on oma ja lanka on Novitan Nalle.

And finaly a pair of Luontopolku socks. The model is my own and the yarn is Novita Nalle.

Etenee... (Progressing...)

Siskon sukissa on havaittavissa hyvin pientä etenemistä. Sen verran on huonosti erottuvassa kuviossa silmukoiden pyörittämistä, että yhdensuuntaisen työmatkan aikana ehdin neuloa noin 2,5 kerrosta, siis 5 kerrosta päivässä. Ehkäpä saan sukkaa nyt vähän paremmin tehtyä, kun Union Square Market -puseroa varten on hankittava ohuemmat puikot, ennen kuin voin sitä jatkaa.

I am proceeding with my sisters socks very slowly. As I wrote before, I only knit them in the bus on my way to work. There are quite many twisted stiches, and therefor I can only knit about 2,5 rounds a on one way trip. I need to get new needles before I can porceed with the Union Square Market Pullover, so maybe the sock get a few more rounds during next couple of days.

Toinen keskeneräinen työni on edennyt sentään paremmin. Etu- ja takakappaleet ovat lähes valmiit. Viikonloppuna saan varmasti uudet puikot, joten lisää etenemistä on luvassa lähiaikoina. Saapa nähdä, onko tuo valmis kolmen viikon kuluttua...

Toisessa kuvassa erottuu v-kaulus hieman paremmin. Langanpätkät ovat silmukka- ja kerrosmerkkejä.

My other unfinnished knitting has proceeded better. Front and back are naerly done. I am quite confident that I will get the new needles on the weekend, so there will be more progression in the near future. Will see, if it will be compleatly ready in three weeks...

Sukat siskolle (socks for my sister)

Union Square Market -pusero etenee tasaista, melko rauhallista tahtia, ja takakappaleesta puuttuu enää muutama sentti.

Tuo pusero ei ole sellainen työ, jota tekisin työmatkalla bussissa, joten joku pienempi työ oli saatava myös tekeille. Onneksi siskolle kelpaavat uudet villasukat, jotka toteutan tuolla samalla mallilla kuin edelliset. Lankana jälleen, yllätys yllätys, Novitan Nalle. Kuvassa tänään jumppareissullani syntynyt sukanalku. Väri ei näy kovin selvästi, mutta tumman vihreät sukista on tulossa.

The Union Square Market Pullover is getting on quite slowly, and only a few centimeters need to be stitched for the back piece.

That pullover is not something I like to stitch in the bus, so I had to find something else to make. Luckyly my sister needs a pair of new wollen socks. I will use the same patterns as on the previous one. The yarn is Novita Nalle. In the picture is the beginning of the first sock, made on my way to aerobics today. The colour can not be seen very well, but it is dark green.

Luontopolku -sukat (Nature path socks)

Tässä nähtäväksenne itse sunnittelemani sukat, jotka neuloin osteopaatilleni joululahjaksi. Mietin pitkään niille nimeä. Halusin jotain luontoon liittyvää, joka voi olla melkein minkä väristä tahansa. Äitini keksi sopivan nimen, Luontopolku, koska se voi vuodenaikojen vaihtelun mukaan kulkea monen värisen luonnon läpi.

For Christmas my osteopath got these socks, which I designed my self. For a long time I tryed to find the right name for them. I wanted a nature related name, in which almost any colour could be related. My mother picked up a perfect name, Nature path, because the nature around a path can have many different colours depending of the time of the year.






Valitettavsti malli ei näy kuvista kovin hyvin kirjavan langan vuoksi. Täytyy ottaa pian käsiin yksivärinen lanka ja kokeilla, miltä sukat siitä tehtynä näyttävät. Näihin sukkiin käytin tuttua ja turvallista Novita Nallea, tosin ensimmäistä kertaa Colorina.

I'm sorry the patterns can not be seen very well in these pictures because of the shaded yarn. I hope to soon have time to try how they look when made of a single coloured yarn. For these socks I used Novita Nalle yarn.

Vuosi 2007

Tässä näytille vuonna 2007 tehtyjä käsitöitä. Niihin kuuluu yllättävän paljon virkkaustöitä, vaikka pidän neulomisesta huomattavasti enemmän. Pienemmänpuoleiset virkkauksetkin näköjään onnistuvat.

Below are my knit and crochet works from year 2007. There are surprisingly many thigs I chroceted, even though I prefer much more knitting.

Blogikoira Geena esittelee kesällä valmistuneita virkattuja ja huovutettuja tossuja. Vihreät ovat siskolleni Anulle ja kirjavat jämälangoista itselleni. Lanka molemmissa Novitan Huopanen, malli Novitan kevät 2007 -lehdestä. Kuvassa mukana myös Geenalle tärkeä äitini tekemä luutyyny.

The blog dog Geena is showing the crocheted and felted slippers made on summer. The green ones are for my sister Anu and the other ones I kept for my self. The yarn is Novita Huopanen and the patterns is from Novita magazine spring issue of 2007. In the picture there is also bone shaped pillow, witch was made by my mother for Geena.

Nämä tossut menivät joululahjaksi ystävilleni. Tein tossut myös vanhemmilleni loppukesän mökkireissuille, yritän saada niistäkin kuvat tänne.

These slippers were a Christmas present for my frends. I made slippers also for my parents, I will try to get a picture of those, too.

Siskoni taisteli upeasti tiensä shetlanninlammaskoiransa Pirren kanssa edustamaan Suomea agilityn MM-kisoihin Norjan Hamariin. Mukaan lähti lämmittämään Novitan Samoksesta neulottu takki. Malli on Novitan kevään 2007 -lehdestä.

MM -kisojen tuliaisina oli mini-koirien joukkuepornssi - onnea vielä kerran Anulle ja Pirrelle, Mialle ja Pyrylle sekä Tainalle ja Muskalle! My sister and her shetland sheepdog Pirre represented Finland in agility world championchips in Hamar Norway. She got this sweater jacket for that event. The model is from Novita magazines spring 2007 issue, yarn is Novitas Samos.

Itselleni tein samanlaisen. Vetoketjun väri erottaa muuten samanlaiset takit toisitaan. Vetoketjujen ompelu oli vähintäänkin haastavaa, vaikka ompelukone helpotti työtä kummasti. Periaatteessa en haluaisi koskea neuleisiin ompelukoneella, mutta näistä ei olisi tullut mitään ilman sitä.

Isä sai myös matkalle mukaan neuleen. Otan siitäkin joku kerta vanhempien luona käydessäni kuvan.

I made an other one for my self. We recognise them of the zippers color. It was quite challenging to sew the zippers, but the sewing machine made the work easier. I have a pinciple to avoid using the sewing machine with my knittings, but I could not have done these without it.

Also my father got a sweater. I will take a picture of it once I wisit my parents.

This is cardigan that I made for my friends baby boy. The model was in Novita magazines autumn 2007 issue. The yarns is Sandnes Smart.

Siskoni toivoi joululahjaksi pitsineulehuivia - malli ja väri saivat tulla yllätyksinä. Ahkeran nettisurffailun jälkeen päädyin todella kauniiseen Sagittaria -huiviin, jonka on suunnitellut Vilma (http://vilman.blogspot.com/2007/01/sagittaria-huivi.html). Langaksi valitsin vaalean harmahtavanvihreän Garnstudion Alpacan.

My sister wished a lace shawl for Christmas. The patterns is designed by Vilma (http://vilman.blogspot.com/2007/03/sagittaria-shawl.html), the yarn is Garnstudio Alpaca and the colour is light grayish green.

Tässä mummon saamat lapaset. Lankana on 7-veljestä.

These mittens are for my grand mother and they are made of Novita 7-veljestä.

The same yarn was used for these mittens made for a friend.

Lisäksi virkkasin pääsiäistipuja ja Kartio -kaatimelle "hameen" ja tein kaksi haarukkapitsihuivia.

In addition, I crocheted some Easter decoration and made two lace shawls.
